Billabong Rest Area & Roadhouse
Pulling in to the Billabong rest area, beside the roadhouse, we had a look around. This dirt and gravel area would certainly fit around 15 vans.
As we were the first to arrive we picked our patch of dirt. A spot away from the road noise. Music was playing outside the roadhouse next-door till 9pm but we could hardly hear it.
As the day progressed more vans and campers arrived. One large bus with a trailer on the back also fitted in nicely.
Billabong rest area is close to the Billabong motel & caravan park. Independent of the Billabong Roadhouse next-door. Both have fuel, and meals till late.
For this reason we opted to go for dinner at one of the service stations and lunch at the other. Next door at the roadhouse we had a pie and a great vanilla slice 😀 We chose The Billabong Motel and Caravan Park for dinner. They seemed to have a better choice.
A book exchange is in the roadhouse. You can exchange your book for $2. Additionally they have a gift shop and an interesting dinning area.
Why Stop Here?
All in all this is a basic stop. Besides the service stations your not going to find much else. However, you are about 2 hours north of Kalbarri and 2 ½ hours south of Carnarvon. Therefore this might be a good free camp to stop and break up the journey.
