– Highbury –
Highbury rest area is a basic camp, off the side of the road. Driving only 33km after leaving Wagin Showgrounds to get here. We had to be in Mandurah to get our van serviced but were early. So a couple more stops were needed along the way.
Not many vans would fit depending on the size of your rig and where others have parked. But they have a grass area and some dirt areas to park.
They have seating, a couple of bins and some toilets.
Opposite the camp is the Highbury pub and a store. The store sells everything from fuel and food to car/trailer and plumbing accessory.
Highbury Hotel
After buying a couple of pie’s from the store for lunch we had a few drinks at the pub at night. Lionel, the manager is a nice chatty guy that loves his pub. He also loves us campers 🙂
We also met a couple of the locals at the bar, who have been on the road for 12 years. They have based themselves in this nice little town. But travel to other towns with their country music.
This couple told us that Lionel had made a huge sundial. If you look at the end of the camping area, opposite the store, you will see it.
The pub has food Thursday to Sunday if your passing through then. They all love travelers stopping and saying “Hi”
It’s on the road but at night we didn’t hear a peep.
This is a basic free camp just off the road. With all your essentials a few steps away 😀
