The General Gordon Hotel is 20 km south of Mackay’s CBD. It’s close to Homebush, also the name of the road its on.

Arriving early in the morning we noticed quite a few vans parked up.

We didn’t stay but wanted to check the camp out while in the area. Staying at the low cost Mycow caravan park near by, it was a short drive.

General Gordon Camp Area

Camping is in a large area behind the pub. We noticed tents, caravans and buses all fitting in nicely.

The back of the pub has an open undercover seating area, open for all to use 24/7. You can play pool here and sit on the couch. They also have a water cooler available in this area.

The pub is located down a quiet road surrounded by sugar cane.

  1. Hi Laz and Sue, great info for us as we have a trip planned at Xmas, first to Moranbah to spend Xmas with our daughter, her husband and our grandson who live and work there and then over onto the coast to Airlie and then a lazy couple of weeks travel back down the coast to home in Karana Downs, so all the info you provide in your blogs is great reading particularly in getting us ready for our big adventure which starts September next year. Happy travelling. Alex & Christine Reid.

    1. Hi Alex and Christine, thanks for the comment. What a great sounding Xmas. Your big adventure will come around before you know it, so much to see, so much to do… it’s all very exciting stuff. All the best for your journey.
