Lightning ridge caravan park – NSW

Lightning Ridge Caravan Park is located 40 minutes form the QLD/NSW border. This was yet another one night stop for us, as we headed south. We stayed connected to the van in a drive through site so we didn’t see much. In saying that we did see a few cool bits and pieces.

This caravan park has a pool and a bar. As we were staying connected it seemed like a good option. The friendly staff at reception let us know when the bar was open and that they served food.

After parking up we had a stroll to the huge bar and had a drink. The locals are a friendly bunch and the bar staff let us know that although the bistro is closed for now they serve pizza and bar snacks all day. Their bottle shop and huge ice machine are also handy.

Have A Stroll

We went for a short walk to the nearby historical society. It was closed but around the side and back are heaps of old memories of years past. The old camper and car are my favourites. Their is also a time capsule to be opened in 2058.

Over the road is Coopers Cottage. This old mining cottage was built in 1916. It’s one of the oldest houses in Lightning Ridge.

Back at Lightning Ridge Caravan park we had a couple of pizzas and a game or two of pool before we headed back to the van. Then we were treated to some rain and lightning in Lightning ridge. This is an old but friendly park. You can see they are doing some up grading on sites and other locations around the park.

We’ll have to head back to the Ridge and have a good look around next time as we have only seen a fraction of the place. You can tell it’s got a heap of character, both in the town and in it’s residents.
