Glen Erin is in the Whitsundays around 30 min north or Proserpine and 10 min South from Bowen. This was our second stay as we liked it so much..
Driving in to Glen Erin, you see mango trees as far as the eye can see. Cow’s are often on the private graded dirt road, leading in to the property. Taking their sweet time to get up and move out of the way. Sheep also wander on the other side of the fence.
We do not have an off road van but found the drive in on the graded road fine. Obviously this would change depending on the season and rain etc.
This is not a farm stay that you come and mingle with animals, as some other farm stays do. In fact Glen Erin is a mango farm.
The owner, Lyn, has her own cattle who wander on the property (not in the camp). Most notably though, you will see the resident kangaroo, Tilly, hopping around by your van.

Want a quiet camp to relax and get away from the world, while being close to Bowen? Then this is the place. We love this rustic camp, with it’s well kept, large, grassy sites. In fact this is our second visit (read our first post from back in 2016 here)
You can have a site with power and water or a non powered site. Although we use our own, showers and toilets are available. A huge camp kitchen is located by the TV/BBQ area. The kitchen has fridges, toaster, kettle and microwave and I think I noticed cooking rings.
The BBQ area has a gas BBQ, undercover seating and TV area. A couple of picnic tables are also around the place, under the shade of some large shady trees.
A dump point, and bins came in handy for us. They also have a laundry if you need it.
As well as camping, they now have a couple of rooms and a two bedroom unit to offer travelers. The private rooms and unit are a cheap alternative for singles or families travelling through the Bowen area.
Glen Erin is only 20km South of Bowen and some beautiful beaches, fishing, shop’s, cafe’s. Not forgetting the Big Mango, just down the road.
Airlie Beach is less than an hour south. Have an adventure with a fun activity like skydiving or tiger moth flight or an escape to the islands.
Airlie is a chilled out hub of activity. With restaurants, bars, and music. People from all nationalities descend here to check out the Great Barrier Reef and all the Whitsundays has to offer (see more Airlie beach and our Whitsunday adventures here)
People often come to Glen Erin for a night or two but stay longer. If you like a relaxed, quiet camp that’s a little rustic, has room to move and has a friendly host, you might like this place as much as we do.
