Nebo Van Park – Nebo – Qld

Nebo Van Park is at the back of Nebo service station, just over one hour south west of Mackay

Heading back to the Whitsundays from Bourke NSW we stopped here again, as we did back in 2016. Would you believe the price for staying has actually gone down! Back in 2016 it was $18 now it’s only $12.

This van park is basically behind the servo and motor inn. Located on the main highway it makes it very handy which ever direction you are going in. This servo itself is handy for filling up your fuel and there is a dump point on the opposite corner.

After pulling in to the petrol station I headed in to see if they had a powered site. They only had two left. I think there may have been two caravans parked here back in 2016, a big change. Heading to the back of the servo you enter the Nebo Van Park. A huge grassed area with a line of vans parked neatly in front, hooked up to power and water. We noticed a couple more to the left of us.

Down the back, all on there lonesome, were two other sites. We had one of those. I would not have even thought to ring and book a site here. As I mentioned last time there were hardly any vans. Times have obviously changed and there are more caravans than ever travelling. Maybe this is because less people are travelling overseas ?

Each site mostly had grass and a slab to park next to. Toilets and showers are located centrally to the majority of sites and have a pin code.

Nebo Service Station

The servo is not just any old servo. In the evening we headed over to see what the dinner was like. The Bushman’s inn dinner was closed so we headed into the station.

The friendly staff noticed we were trying to see what was in the hot box which had the usual pies, burgers, chips etc. The girls showed us the full menu which was huge. I got the chicken burger and Larry the burger, yummy.

The servo is open 24hrs so you can pop in for a drink, sandwich, low calorie meal from the fridge or a big breakfast in the morning.

So Nebo Van Park might not be your usual caravan park. In fact depending on your perspective it might be even better. For $12 you get power, water, toilet, shower, fuel at your door, dinner at your door, dump point over the road, Oh’ and did I mention free washing machine!

You can also walk to the local pub for a drink and dinner. It’s worth checking out!
