Halliday Bay Golf Course Camp – Queensland

FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites

You can find this beach side camp at Halliday Bay, 40 minutes north of Mackay, 1.5 hours South of Airlie Beach and only 10 minutes to Cape Hillsborough.

Whether you’re into golf or not this camp is not one to be missed. This is all about location location location. See the short video at the end of the post to see what I mean 😀

This post has been edited 10th June 2019 as we stayed for 5 more nights

Halliday Bay Golf Course

Our first visit was back in 2018, calling in to have lunch and check out the camp. This time we were here to stay a night or 5.

On our first visit I noticed the bar/dinning area is not available every day so best to enquire.

Leonne, one of the caretakers, who is still here, served us and was really friendly. She was happy to answer all the questions I had on staying at the camp.

Leonne told us that one game of golf is included in the price for one night stay. If you’re a golfer this is an amazing deal. This is a 9 hole course designed by Ross Watson. I have no idea who he is but if you’re a golfer you might 😀

As well as the golf course you can make use of the tennis and volleyball courts.

A few feet from your van is a glorious beach. If your worried about stingers the beach has a net for swimming.

The Camp

A huge grass area backing on to the beach is set up for camping. Water is now available and one site has power. This site needs to be pre-booked.  You do have use of toilet, bins, dump point and can have grey water on the ground.

You can hear the waves from your van as you sit having happy hour. Or watch the sun go down from the beach.

The fire pit is lit in the cooler months so head over for drinks and a chat. You will probably meet other campers who have returned. We were the 3rd couple by the fire that had called back as we liked it so much.

The cost of this Golf Course Camp is $22. If you require water it’s $27 per night. This includes one game of golf.

Our plan to stay two nights turned to five. Both of us got a free game. You have a beach right there. You have a bar and activities. Your pet is welcome and they have Gas.

Halliday Bay has a walking track at the end of the beach. It’s 800 meters and worth the effort to get to the top. The views are stunning over Ball Bay and the ocean.

We ended up staying 5 night to get the walk, golf, shopping and the relaxing in.
