Traveling the North West Coastal Highway between Carnarvon and karratha is the Nanutarra Roadhouse.
As temperatures were rising during the day, we decided to stay the night here. Air-conditioning was definitely need and we could connect to power.
The Caravan Park
The cashier in the service station gave us a map of the small but neat parking area. He also gave us the code for the toilet/showers.
The two showers and toilets in the ladies were older but clean.
I had my first proper shower other than the caravan in over three months. It was great! powerful and hot.
You will also find a couple of washing machines outside if needed.
The parking spots are gravel and have a bit of greenery by some parking areas. We arrived to find 5 vans already parked up, by night almost all the powered sights were taken.
Most people, like us, wanted to use their air-con. Amazingly, the roadhouse is totally self sufficient and so runs on generators.
On the day of our stay they were having a problem with the generators. Unfortunately that meant we didn’t have air-con for quite a while during the day.

We didn’t hook up to water here as it was bore water. Staff at the roadhouse told us not to drink it.
Having just cleaned our tanks with Milton and then filled them, we were happy to use our tank water.
Nanutarra Roadhouse
The roadhouse has a modern looking cafe with meals and snacks as well as essentials.
This is a licensed premises so you can pop in for a drink or two over dinner. Open between 6am and 10pm.
A couple of our neighbours came over for a chat which was nice. They, as lots of others are now heading south.
As usual we seem to be heading in the opposite direction. Oh well into the heat we shall go. Lap one here we come 😀

Hi there, just be prepared for cyclones the further north you go, as it is cyclone season from November to May across the Top End. This is why most people are heading south. Find out all the regulations and recommendations if you don’t have much experience with cyclones. Cheers.
Hi lenz, thanks for the heads up. We’ve been through 5 cyclones to date, (the joys of living in Queensland for years). We’re now heading back to Queensland to help with the destruction from cyclone Debbie.
